Two Weeks Down
I just completed my first two weeks of being an adult, and I must say, it's exhausting. I work eight hours a day with a half hour break for lunch, and it takes about fifteen minutes each way to work and home. I have been making a serious effort to get to the gym every day, and it feels great. It is also completely draining. Most days, I am not home before 7PM, and I leave the house around 7:15AM. For as long as I can remember, my parents would always come home from work and take a nap. Now, I understand why.
These weeks have been very exciting, too. I found out yesterday that my apartment application was approved, and I will be moving into my own place in a little under a month. I already cannot wait to fill it with furniture and pictures and art and make it feel like home, because it is going to be my home indefinitely. I look forward to having something that is truly my own and that I have worked for and earned. My new MacBook Pro for work arrived as well, and I've been totally infatuated with getting it all set up, synchronizing it with my various accounts and Mac at work, and obsessing over having something new and shiny.
As for work, it is definitely an adjustment, but in no way a bad one. I love what I do, and I have been immersing myself in my work. My first week was a lot of setting things up and catching up on what I had missed, which got very monotonous very fast. This week, I had more meetings, more scheduling of future meetings, and was able to be more active. It made the days go by faster, and I will try to continue to keep this kind of work schedule as much as possible. I also attended my first Business After Hours as a full-time employee for Heart. It was really fun to meet so many people that can help me professionally but be put in a natural-feeling setting. There's another one next Thursday, and I am absolutely look forward to that.
As for me, it's 10PM on a Friday night, and I am ready for a movie, maybe a glass of wine, and some quality time with my couch. I guess being an adult might not be so bad after all.
